In the initial utterance of the line, The Stranger (played by Sam Elliot) tells Jeff 'The Dude' Leboswki (played by Jeff Bridges) to take it easy. So he responds in agreement...he is saying that the Dude will take it easy.
- After this line plays out, and The Dude walks out of the frame, The Stranger turns to the the camera and says: "The Dude Abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there, The Dude, takin' her easy for all us sinners."
